Avoid Time Warner Cable Like the Plague

Apparently deadbeats had an acct at apartment. After 11+ phone calls, with 4+ transfers in most of those, speaking to sales, risk management, internet repair (?!), something mislabeled "customer care," all in repeating succession, AND after faxing very sensitive personal info (including ss#s & lease proving I'm not the deadbeat tenant), they still cannot activate service. Each person on the call creatively made up various information. They did get the fax but it would take time to lift the hold. They did not get the fax. I need to talk to ___. I don't need to talk to ___, I need to start over with sales. And my favorite part. Several calls ended up with a transfer into oblivion, where I was greeted by the message "due to unforeseen circumstances, your call cannot go through at this time." And, from a quick glance at reviews, this is common "customer care" from this company.

Wow sorry to read about this experience, no I know I am not alone. I used to work for these guys as a sub-contractor.

They were the best company to work for in my 18 year career. Time Warner treated me well and paid on time with lightening speed. I was a

Time Warner customer for eighteen years. When I first tried to get cable hooked up, I waited three Saturdays in a row ...all day and the guy never came.

When I did get it hooked up it was s- - t from the get go. Eightee years I had Time Warner. I had over eighteen cable boxes changed out three modems and finally had enough. My bill went from $150.00 per month to $180.00.

A whopping increase. This was my excuse to rid myself of Time Warner once and for all. I went to ROKU and life is better. Our cable service and internet stink.

The signal is degraded where connectivity is lost all the time every day. At least I am not shoveling money to Time Warner. Now with ROKU I can activate Time Warner or any other network provider and I can get on-demand if I so choose. I went with Sling, Netflix, and HULU.

There is a portal called PLUTO and everyone should check this out. You can install PLUTO on any device. There are a lot of channels for free. There is a movie icon on the upper left in PlUTO, hit that and there are oodles of free movies.

If you do the 30day trial make sure you add Maddy G TV. There are a lot of really good exclusive shows on there. The more you play with ROKU the more you will discover, and the more you will like ROKU. Time Warner is now called Spectrum.

I call it Speculum. I can't believe the tons of mail they send to us almost every day, addressed to "Valued Customer." They call us and beg us to come back. Now I have the pleasure of telling them to take a long walk off a short pier. I'll never go back to Speculum ever.

Soon there will be "over-build" which will enable me to go with a competitive vendor. I can't wait for that!

Final Statement

I disconnected services after paying a bill in full. I turned in the equipment prior to the end of that same month. I then received a final bill which I tried to contact and no one could answer my questions. I then called a final time and was informed that my balance was zero. The following week I receive a letter from a collections agency regarding the bill. No one can fully explain my final bill of $47 when my services are only $30/month. They just kept saying it was pro-rated and could not give me a billing cycle. This is poor customer service and an awful thing to do to a great customer. I really didnt have the time or energy to dispute a claim so I unfortunately I just paid the $47.

Why in the *** is Spectrum Austin broadcasting Indians/Bluejays on the MLB Network onstead of Astros/Orioles? Pick up Root Southwest for Astros/Rockets or I am gone when my 1 year contract is complete.

On going issues. Service always messing up, tv box doesnt work half the time. Internet goes down all the time. Im tired of paying for *** service. Asked to speak to a manager, the respresentative reaponded with "why?" And never let me talk to a manager, instead just gave me the run around about basically wanting me to call everytime the service is interrupted. Im sorry but i have 3 children and a job, i dont have time to call these people every other day and talk for 20 minutes to get NO where. Why was i not able to speak to a manager? Why am i paying for a service that doesnt work a lot of the times. They should discount the bill at the very least for this continuous problem. Every other service provided by companies will reimburst you to make things right, why wont they???!!

Technician over 2 hours late!

So my service with TWC is now Spectrum in my area, but let me tell you my story anyways. I moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago, and I noticed that my speed wasn't as good as it should be. Therefore, I ran some speed tests. While I was paying for 100 MBPS, I was only getting approximately 25 MBPS. So, I reset my modem to see if that helped. Well that caused issues due to the stupidity of customer service not transferring my services properly. So, they finally fixed that, and I was still experiencing a huge fluctuation in my speeds. One minute it would be in the 80's, the next it would drop to 25 again. At one point the speed test captured it at less than 1 MBPS. Needless to say, this is a problem. This was on Sunday. So, they scheduled a technician to arrive at my apartment on Tuesday morning, with an arrival time of between 8-9 am. I took the time off work to wait for the tech to arrive. At 8:01 am, I received the automated text that the tech was on his way. Awesome, right? Shortly after 9 am, I found myself on the phone with customer service asking where my technician was. The tech had not updated the order with any notes, so who knows? The customer service rep opened a ticket, verified my phone number, and said I would be receiving a call within the hour. Great, another hour to *** work! So, I waited until 10:30. No tech, no phone call, no anything! So here I am calling customer service AGAIN. This time, there were apparently notes on the order. One saying that they knocked on my door and there was no answer. Well, I can tell you I've been sitting very close to the door since 8. Nobody has knocked on it. Next, they said they left a tag on the door for a cancelled appointment? Nope, no tag on my door. Now another ticket has been opened. Dispatch is supposed to call me. It is currently 11:01 am as I am sitting here writing this and still no phone call, no technician, and I officially have 3 hours of work that I will be making up on my Saturday. Also, let me clarify that my apartment number is very clearly marked. It is B20. The letter represents the building. Even the little plaque outside my front door says B20. You won't go to another building and just see "20" written by the door. There will be a letter. There is no way to mistake one apartment for another, unless you're completely illiterate, and I would hope that somebody coming to mess with my wires and and stuff is not illiterate. Otherwise, I'm in more trouble than I already am. So now, I will continue waiting. And when I don't hear anything by noon, I will be looking into another service, because this is absolutely ridiculous! So now it is 11:31. I decided to look at my email. I received an email at 11:06 that they RESCHEDULED my appointment and the arrival time is between 12-4 pm!!!!!!!! Are you joking???? They were supposed to CALL ME! I'm absolutely done. I don't recommend them to ANYONE!

I have had Time warner for almost a year and have had nothing but problems. My on demand NEVER works. I have called multiple times about my controller not working and they only tell me they don't know what is wrong. Ever since having time warner my tv changes its source on its own and the internet connection through time warner makes my Netflix and Hulu always short out so I can watch any shows. I am fed up and am so happy this year is almost over and I can get rid of time warner for good. Do not waste your time. I have never had trouble with Comcast or at&t in the past until time warner. And the price is outrageous and I don't even have DVR. I would never get time warner/spectrum EVER again.

Horrible billing and customer service

I dont know where to begin...taking money out of my account for a bill without my authorization, over a bill that wasnt due yet. And then hanging up on me 7 times when i tried to file a complaint. I ended up moving and canceling the account completely, and now they sent me to collections over a bill i didnt even owe....my credit score went down 30 points. I will never recommend them....ill go without wifi before id use them again !

On april 27th, I returned all my cable boxes. I decided to keep the internet service. I asked them how much would be my monthly payments. Customer service said it would be $44.99 per month, because I already have the modem. The bill for May says my monthly payment is $64.99. I called them over the phone and they said they have no records, and they can not grant $44.99 I wanted to contact corporate, but there is no way to file a complaint through them. It is not right to lie to customers. Now I have to drive back to the main office to request to speak with a manager. what can I do?

upset with cover of Time/ WH and Kremlin. Will not support any of Time warner's advertisers! It is bad journalism and very biased and that is not the roll of journalist. If Hillary were elected would you have shown her taking a hammer to her computer and washing her history of e-mails. She had a warrant to turn over the material and she broke the law with her deliberate erasing damaging material. If Trump is convicted of wrong doings then you can report it. Why did FBI director Comey lied on May 3rd that no one tried to change his investigation .... Maybe you should look into his character instead of jumping to conclusions .... If COmey lied on May 3rd , is he now lying ?

Better Deal - I think not!

I signed up for Spectrum (formerly TWC) to save money on my tv/internet bill due to a job loss in my family. I moved from DirecTV to Spectrum. The rep assured me $125 a month all in - all the stations you love (we reviewed the ones we watch most frequently), better faster internet and VOIP phone - you must have the VOIP to get the package. Here it is Mother's Day - and I am not getting all the goodies I like - Travel, Spike, etc...so I look at how to boost my stations. I log in and see my first bill = $225!! What? that is not the $125 promised AND I'm not getting the channels I love. Well, I guess there is a $50 service call fee. Not that I was made aware of that. Which in turn added more taxes and fees. The other $30 was proration for changing mid-cycle. Plus if you are in Digi Tier 2 that does not include Digi Tier 1 - that is another 20 bones per month - so how does Tier 2 not come with Tier 1??? Something sounds wrong here. So I call customer service - Person 1 - can't waive that service fee - even if you have been our customer with internet service for over 8 years. So I say - I'll go back to DirecTV - um, now I have transfer you to Solutions since you said you would change providers. OK - off to solutions. Solutions is not a solution - did you know that NO ONE in the company can refund the $50 service fee - NOT A SINGLE PERSON. And the girl was chawing on her lunch while helping me - seriously?!? Off to her manager - which was the worst experience in customer service I have had - and this one is topping my many calls to TWC. None of the traditional - what can I do to help (you are Solutions after all), it was: you want this, X dollars more. Oh and hey, if you want to argue all night - Rashawn will be more than happy to stay on the "line and argue as long as you want to" but you still can't get resolution to a $50 dollar fee EVEN if you would have wanted to take on the extra $20 to get the shows you want. There is NO ONE who can refund that fee. Yes - he did say he would argue back with me as long as I wanted to stay on the line and that not a soul could help me with the fee. Now, keep in mind I've not even had this new wonderful service for a whole month yet. Installation was on April 23rd, this is May 14th. I say that's not much of a Solution is it Solution department and his response is well, I'm trying to help you here in retention - I thought this was Solutions? Where am I calling and who is the next up the chain to talk to me? The answer - I can put in a ticket and a two day turn around is next in line for you customer if anyone calls you back. I say - I guess my solution is to go back to DirecTV since your retention department just lost a brand new customer. I'd cancel my net service too if they weren't a monopoly in my area. Hate them? To say the least. If you can get service anywhere else I would. What did I do - I called DirecTV they are reactivating my account with a free month a discount and other bonuses. I'll be bringing in my TWC boxes on Thursday the 18th since they don't come pick them up - oh ya, that is the customers responsibility too.

Ended sevice with them, A charter employee came picked up all.of the equipment(I have the paper for that with date) I call and ask for final bill after the equipment fees came off never received a final bill instead received a collections letter where tgey turned it over to collections in less than a month after getting the equipment. NO FINAL BILL WAS EVER SENT FOR US TO PAY. This is Bull! I am.reporting to consumer affairs and BBB. Will NEVER ise this POS company again.Also calling a lawyer.

WE ARE CHARGED FOR "100 SPEED" YET NONE OF US ACTUALLY GET IT AND WE KEEP SEEING GREAT OFFERS FROM SPECTRUM/TIME WARNER (WHICH IS PART OF CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS NOW) AND WHEN YOU CALL THE COMPANY YOU ARE TOLD "OFFERS ARE ONLY FOR NEW CUSTOMERS". SO NEW CUSTOMERS GET GREAT OFFERS, OLD LOYAL CUSTOMERS GET NOTHING. "Special rates" for new customers is a common marketing practice in the industry. It is meant to lure new customers with a low price and then hoping they continue with them if for no other reason than inertia---people somehow find it difficult to call up and cancel their service even when their rates go up after a year or two.

Charter merged with TWC and as a result the service of both has suffered, eg., Charter email, now Spectrum is terribly inefficient and badly-designed. As for the 100mbs you are supposed to get---Charter probably says something like "up to" 100mbs. In my area, at least their cable internet is just fine and does the job with few outages altho it does not approach 100mbs either. I dropped Charter cable TV a few years ago and now just have the internet with which I use for Amazon Prime, Netflix, Roku box, etc.

and happily watch any and all TV/movies we could possibly want. Why pay for cable TV channels you don't watch?

The AG of New York found Spectrum was ripping customers off when claiming they can provide Internet speeds they know they cannot achieve. I wrote to the AG of NY Office about my low Internet speeds when I read about their findings.

The AG promptly notified Spectrum of my complaint and the results were swift - 3 visits by techs to replace wiring throughout my building and a credit on my bill for 6 months of payments I made for the faster speed they couldn't provide. Call Spectrum and tell them you know about the New York AG's finding that Spectrum LIES and that you will take them to Small Claims Court or beyond !
