Time Warner Cable - Closed my Account with a $0 Balance, 8 Months later, they take me to collections for $100

I was moving out of state, so I closed my account with Time Warner Cable in May of 2013. I was current on all bills, and walked to the physical TWC office to return my modem and pay my final bill. Upon paying, I was told that my account was successfully closed and I owed $0. Because I'm already a paranoid person for these kind of scams, I also insisted on a receipt and confirmation for my final bill and returned equipment. 2 weeks later, I received a final email from TWC saying I had a balance of $0. Between June and January, I received no emails, no phone calls, and no physical mail regarding any outstanding amounts, (or even junkmail from TWC). 8 Months later, my elderly mother started receiving threatening phone calls from a collections agency who represents Time Warner Cable. (I did not provide her phone number, nor her address). I called TWC immediately once she told me, and the TWC representative couldn't give me a straight answer as to how I owed them the $100. He claimed they had no records of any transactions or accounts older than 6 months, and could not confirm any confirmation numbers that I had provided; only that there was $100 outstanding on the account. As it stands currently, I still "owe" them $100, but have no intention to pay. My mother has since contacted her phone company to have the collection agencies numbers blocked.

Collection agencies use Lexus Nexus, a tracking program that identifies you by your SSN, and links you to all previous and current addresses and phone #s, along with names and phone #s of your current and past neighbors that might have contact with you , as well as your relatives. Specifically, parents, siblings, spouses, ex-spouses, and children.

We use these tools to help locate people we can't find. I am sorry to hear you are having these problems, but my suggestion to you would be, that you contact TW and ask for written confirmation of your $0 balance, INCLUDING account #, then tell them your situation and ask for them to contact the collection agency (only after you have your $0 balance letter in hand) and send a copy of that letter to the collection agency requesting a $0 balance letter from them as well

Time Warner Cable - Time Warner disables wireless on customer owned equipment

I bought a Motorola SBG6580 because it had wireless and I did not want to maintain two pieces of equipment. What I did not know is that TWC downloads a configuration file to your modem that changes the configuration based on an account code tied to what you purchase. So since I purchased their promotional service they choose to turn of the wireless on my modem. That is pretty poor service. I have spent many hours on the phone with TWC going from one tech to another being told lies and miss information until I finally reach a supervisor that told me that it is all about the account code and that the system does not allow them to change the configuration

so you admit you bought something that wasn't from them to use on their service during the promotional thing you got? what did you expect?

it's THEIR service that they're selling to you.

and i'm sure if you take a second to look over the contract you would have had to agree to instead of just signing it like so many do that you'd have seen that they make no guarentees about a 100% reliability of service being up and that they can change/modify/delete the account/service at any time and for any reason. while this doesn't make it right this is how all these companies operate

Time Warner Cable - Be Extremely Careful with Your Final Bill when you close accounts!

Time Warner might be having dishonest practice, trying to cheat customers. I returned the modem at TW store on Oct 11 and confirmed that my account was closed. I did not make the full payment for Oct since it's going to be for only 11 days. I was waiting for the final bill, which miraculously did not come. On beginning of Nov, I received two letters from collection agencies about my delinquent payment. I was concerned and called Time Warner and paid $79.54. Realizing that I have overpaid and called for an explanation. The customer rep got his supervisor to investigate into this. The supervisor said I was charged until Nov 6. I told him that about closing my account on Oct 11. He then explained there was a computer glitch and I will be receiving a refund check of $68. I told the supervisor about my suspicion about their DISHONEST PRACTICE. He then said he will bring this to the top management.

Same here - TW billed me for 12 additional days after disconnecting service. I called and they made the adjustment.

Am waiting for the final bill when, what should appear? A letter from a collection agency regarding the final amount due.

TW didn't have the decency to send me a final bill, after trying to rip me off, and sent me to collections. This company must be run by a bunch of crooks.

They never pick up the phone to talk to the customer but they like to rise prices on everything the tV has to be re booted everyday inorder to look at it and when the wheather gets cold and windy the sytem goes out everyday But they still like to rise prices on everything including when channel 2 was out they again send the increase to the customer because time warner thinks that the customer should foot the bill. I know the feeling. I had to upgrade to 30mg a sec in order to have decent internet for 4 devices in my house.

I payed 49.99 for a year had no idea it was a promotional thing because they never told me then after a year they sent me an email stating that as of next month my internet would be 110 a month. I was furious.

Not only to mention that I had to be on the phone with customer service 4 times in one month because my internet connection would randomly go out and they only thing they would tell me is that my router was throwing out the same IP address to all the devices at once.......wow. Really?

Time Warner Cable - WHAT A JOKE!!!

I called to set up cable. The rep set me set me up for things I clearly stated I did not want. Finally fixed the issue with a nother rep. I stated for id I have a work photo id he if I had a social security card I said yes. He said that will work. Then I talk to two different reps the also said that will be fine. Little did I know they flagged the account for that reason. The day of set up I received a voicemail of the instillation guy who was clearly sitting in the office claims he knocked on our door. So I have it set it up again for a latter time that day again I stated I had a work photo id and a social. Then the instillation guy calls to confirm he asked if I had a photo id I stated I had a work photo id and social he said that's fine he asked if account holder would be at the home I said yes its me he laughed and hung up on me five minutes latter a rep calls and said they can not install without drivers license I stated the above. He said there is nothing we can do. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!! I WILL NEVER GO THRU TIME WARNER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Time Warner Cable - HOLD TIME / CBS / SHOWTIME

I've called twice per week in the past 4 weeks. I've tried morning, late morning, early afternoon and evening....every time I'm on hold for 45 minutes and then I give up. I've tried emailing, but they don't take cancelations via email. I've written a letter, it's been 10 days and they've yet to respond. I'm pissed: I pay for 30mbs, I get 5, I pay for cable because I like a few showtime channels and time warner opted to take it off the air despite the fact they had no cost options to continue their negotiations. I don't feel valued as a customer, I feel abused ignored taken for granted and neglected. My monthly bill is $240. It's outrageous. That's as much as health insurance, a month's groceries, or a car payment - and for that every month they deliberately and impossibly are unreachable, but require contact to cancel. I will have to change my billing account number so they no longer have access to bill me, then they will develope collections on my account and I'll have to fight them and explain I've been trying to reach them for a month before I suspended the account on my own. This is unreasonable and I expect a government agency or consumer advocate team to step in and make a fuss as our - US AS CUSTOMERS - voice - Let MY VOICE BE HEARD. TIME WARNER - I DON'T CARE WHAT AXE YOU HAVE TO GRIND WITH CBS - YOU DO AS YOU PLEASE, BUT DO NOT DRAG ME INTO THIS AND AVOID MY CALL TO CANCEL SERVICE DUE TO A CHANGE IN MY SERVICE YOU WERE AND ARE IN CONTROL OF. The following is a copy of an unanswered request for prompt action to assist a 93 year old widow. Mr. Britt is apparently the CEO. No acknowledgement of email. No phone call. No nothing. I was on hold 68 minutes without assistance. Dear Mr.Britt, I am writing this email on behalf of my 93 year old aunt Sxxxxx Sxxxxx. I am also still on hold trying to speak to 'customer service' at 866-321-2225. Her account number is xxx - xxxxxxxxx - xxx and phone is xxx-xxx-xxxx. The issue I am trying to resolve is that she continues to receive postal mail telling her her account is past due and Time Warner will suspend her service. These letters are very destructive to her health and emotional well being. Threatening to cease phone service on a 93 year old person is threatening to disallow her to reach a doctor. I have reviewed her online status and is is all OK: nothing due; nothing past due; automatic payments in effect. As I cannot reach a human being at your company (still on hold), will you please see to it that (1) a phone call is made to her number assuring her that her service IS in good standing and to ignore the letters, and (2) Please send her a letter to the same effect, preferable from somebody in authority. TWC does not care I am a professional pay my bill on time and filed a complaint for service issues and Time Warner said they no longer want to be my service provider. They are discusting company that needs to be stopped. If you are willing I am willing to come together and wue them so they can't do this to any other people.

After returning to Time Warner from AT&T we were offered a good deal plus $200 gift card (as advertised on TV). We entered into the contract with them and paid our bills automatically and on time. The deal with the gift card was you have to maintain your account in good standing for 90 days and after that period your gift card was processed and sent to you in 4-6 weeks. We are now into week 25 from starting with Time Warner and are no nearer getting the gift card from them than the day we started. I have contacted Customer service (a contradiction if ever I heard one) every week and have a string of emails promising this and that, but in the end they do not care and will tell you anything but the truth. I like my cable, phone and internet service, but do not like all of the BS and lies from them. If you take there offer be prepared for piles of manure, because that's exactly what we got.

Time Warner Cable - Accounting Dept. is *** poor

for the 4th time in a year I have spent hours trying to correct my account. They never post my payments, which are always sent on time and try to charge me late fees. It takes hours and days to correct the problem. They want my bank to fax copies of canceled checks, which cost $5.00. I can't take the stress anymore and will have to get service from another provider. Their chat line, phone service, etc. is no help whatever, it is always pass the buck. Big business is just out to get anyone they can get - we need to fight back.

Time Warner Cable - Disconnected my Service without my knowledge, than sent my account to collections

Time Warner Cable is a joke. I put my services on hold, the woman I talked to said to just take my equipment and call when I was ready to start services, never stating anything about money that I would owe or anything. They disconnected my service without my knowledge and I never received any notice. The next thing I know collections called me telling me I owed 80 dollars for unreturned equipment. I called today and got transferred to 4 different people, before they told me they didn't need to inform me my services were being disconnected. The customer service is lacking, and I can't believe they run a business like this. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I have never been so upset in my life. They need to learn how to treat people and train better employees!! I will never use this joke of a service again in my LIFE!!

We have called time warner several times about the reward money for resigning and never get a answer always making excuses or promise to call back but never. We feel they are giving us the run around not to pay. We are never late on pymts. If we do not get paid before the 28 of June u will hear from us to disconect. First they disconnect our cable for a late bill and a Digital Box that needed to be returned only after we returned the box did we find it was for our parent's previous account. time warner has called me every day for consecutive days in row...demanding money or threatening to turn me off...i have told them each time..i will have the bill paid on friday,i told them each time i didnt have a credit card,i will be paying cash at a location.well today when they called again...i told them to just shut me the *** off and i will take the cash they were gonna get on friday "which is tomorrow" and i will go with a different company..i will not be harrassed and threatened every day..ruined my day 1st thing in the morning all week...i may be late with my payment,but this is uncalled for and rediculous...all i can think about all week...is my *** cable bill...are you trying to give me a heart attack ?? the 3rd and 4th call assured me they wouldnt call again the 5th call...i blew up on the poor girl on the other end...who then told me "i will terminate your account with us maam..have a good day" unexceptable,and unprofessional....REALLY...thats how they value their customers!!!!!

Time Warner Cable - ACCOUNT REP argues back and forth. yes,no,yes,no

I had paid a past due balance. Told them to keep my service off and I would change it later. I was upset because I went from paying 54.00 to about 80.00 for the same service. After I paid my past due amount I asked them over and over if I was paid in full and that the only charges for the following month would be my new plan of choice. Yes that's correct you will only have to pay the new plan amount. They lied and customer service is saying no you owe for past service it was not shut off. I told them it was and I had in fact confirmed with them the cost of my next bill.

Your service was disconnected for nonpayment. Your promo rate was then reversed to the normal rate. KNOW your contract.
